I thought I had all the material ready for Chapter 12, and I just had to whittle it down a little bit and write it. But the Chapter was badly conceived, contained too much material, and didn't have an appropriate point of view. So I've been sitting here frustrated for about a week and wasting a lot of time, trying to shoehorn a size 13 man's foot into a size five women's shoe.
Today, after I finally figured out what needs to go in and what doesn't, I'm so fidgety I can't write.
So I'm sitting here playing with my voice-recognition software.
But at least it gives me the illusion that I'm getting something done because I can articulate what is going on. Before that, I was making extra coffee that I didn't need, dust mopping an already-clean floor, and filing my fingernails.
Then, about 4:00, when it was too late to finish the chapter, I got an epiphany. Everything fell into place. So I should be able to finish tomorrow, if I don't forget everything....

Hello. I haven't done very much with this blog since I started writing, but I thought as my book moves forward I would tell you where I am and what I am doing.
Basically I outlined what I want the final book to look like, and broke it down into 50 small pieces that I called chapters. I have written chapters 1-12 and, chronologically, have reached the end of the Community Advisory Committee.
As I go forward I may call people that I have already interviewed, or call others to get small pieces of information.
Note to Sterling and Isabel Schultz: I haven't forgotten you, but my CD recorder is broken and I haven't been able to mail you the pictures I took of your farm.
I have also promised to talk to several people, and then have run out on them. I still plan to talk to you, so don't give up on me.
